MUSIC EDUCATION

Alongside our harmony and singing instruction, we offer a unique curriculum in music education that is split into 5 levels of ability making it easy to digest. Each level incorporates two major fundamental aspects of music education. Lessons are taught weekly online via Zoom with our teachers.

Music Theory

Music theory is useful for every kind of music in a significant way. It will allow you to analyze the work of other composers quickly, resulting in faster development of your style. A deep understanding of music theory in Los Angeles makes a literate musician. It creates a musician who can not only speak the language of music but read and write it as well.

Music theory often gives you a more comprehensive understanding of the music you already know. You don’t necessarily need theory to play music, but playing music implies or creates the theory of music. It’s not really the question of whether your kids should learn theory, but rather the question of “when should they learn it”. Come take music theory classes with Squad Harmonix today!

Sight Reading

Learn how to read and sing music using our own curriculum on SightReadingFactory.com. Practices and tests are timed and recorded with disappearing measures to ensure students really master the skill.

Developing and improving sight-reading ability can help you learn new music faster, and can provide opportunities for collaborating with other musicians and vocalists. Sight-reading is a practical and useful skill for any young musician to have, and our teachers have some of the best methods for teaching you to sight-read music accurately and efficiently.

Before you can learn any new piece of music, you must read the score. A good sight-reading ability can help you learn pieces faster. Activities such as accompanying choirs or vocalists and playing for church services require excellent sight-reading skills. A good sight-reading ability allows you to develop a large repertoire of easy pieces in a short period of time. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to quickly prepare a concert of holiday music for Christmas, or a selection of a loved one’s favorite songs for their birthday?

Music students often get frustrated with sight-reading music, thinking that they are somehow inherently unable to do it well. In fact, anyone can learn to sight-read well, when guided through an efficient method by an excellent teacher.

Music relieves stress and teaches children to concentrate

Playing an instrument or being in a musical class demands total attention. Because of this, music is a great stress- relieving tool that helps to calm the mind and enhance attention spans.

Music helps children understand calculation

Music can be a great way of learning mathematics in a unique way!

Music helps kids express themselves

As well as being a way of relieving stress, music could also help children to manage their passions more by expressing them through language. It gives them the chance to exteriorize their feelings through the instrument they're playing, particularly when they've had a go at composing their own music.

Music helps children to cultivate social skills

Music is frequently played in a group and as a result, strong teamwork skills are acquired, with all players working together harmoniously. In order to contribute to the show, attending team practices and practicing is essential too. Working towards one particular goal helps to enhance social abilities.

Music can make us strong and resilient

No matter what age your child might be, understanding the musical language or literacy to play an instrument can be challenging at times. The Importance of Music Theory for Kids

A large number of people think that learning the theory of music is merely time-wasting and not really important. The fact is, learning and understanding music in its written form and knowing the basics behind the theory behind it can only be to the advantage of a student – it’s never a disadvantage.

You might think that you should only be able to play your instrument and create music - that you are not interested in studying the background or theory of music but rather in being able to play your instrument. However, to really enjoy and understand your music means that you’ll have to get a good grasp of the basics of the theory. Music theory LA plays a significant role, and it can and will only enhance your playing and bring you incredible satisfaction and pleasure.

Most students have a powerful desire to understand how their instrument works, as well as to have an understanding of written music and the composition of music. You may say: “I will learn all music by ear”, which is definitely possible but in this day and age we all want to understand and have knowledge of where things come from and how it works. Learning music theory classes in Los Angeles gives you an edge and great satisfaction to be able to understand what you are playing.

When you start with piano lessons, ukulele lessons, or any other instrument, you will find that the basics of being able to read music are of vital importance and inevitable. No matter how simple the music is, you will always find that at some stage you will need to be able to understand the A-B-Cs of theory like the stave, the clefs, the note names, time signatures, key signatures and expressions, etc. which are all written on the manuscript.

Having a basic understanding of the basic theory of music can only enhance the adult and give you the edge above your peers, knowing that you understand the background of music and are able to communicate on the same level as an enlightened musician.

It is unimaginable for youngsters to learn to play music without learning any sort of basics or theory -so much more for the adult beginner. It’s unthinkable to really learn to play well without at least conquering the very basics of the area you are conquering, whether it be music theory or anything else. As the saying goes “Knowledge is power”, and it’s also true in studying music.

Today, we are empowered through usage of the Internet and google plus the new development of studying music via online lessons. This makes studying music and the basics of theory possible for many who used to find it hard to study music because of practical impaired movement or not being able to attend classes.
